The Hunger Free project is an awareness initiative sponsored by Hunger Free Heartland. It intends to visually communicate the stories of Omaha citizens who are food insecure. Recorded interviews of Heartland Hope Mission clients will be incorporated into the designs, which will feature cut-out shapes and hand drawn text. These stories are set, ironically, in the shapes of iconic American novelty foods and desert. The objective is to impact the viewer’s sense of irony and cause the viewer to consider the disparity between what they may take for granted and the troubles faced by others in the community. The final objective is to stir action from the viewer in support of HFH’s efforts.
