First Gotta Have Arts Community Art Day in the Books

WhyArts and Gotta Be Me hosted the first ever Gotta Have Arts Community Art Day May 19 at the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The day included hands-on art activities, an art sale featuring work created by Gotta Be Me participants with the help of WhyArts teaching artists, an information fair, live music and a performance by Kids on the Block, a unique troupe of life-sized puppets designed to teach children what it’s like to be different. The puppets are powered by WhyArts teaching artists Stephanie Anderson and Nils Haaland. Funding for the Gotta Have Arts initiative is made possible in part by a grant to WhyArts from the Lincoln Financial Foundation.
