WhyArts is pleased to welcome a new visual artist to its teaching roster: Gerard Pefung.
Pefung, a painter and designer from Cameroon, studied painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He spent the last decade collaborating with communities and businesses throughout Nebraska, the Midwest and beyond to exhibit and introduce vibrant artwork to otherwise blank walls and buildings. A large part of his practice involves mentoring young artists.
In his workshops, Pefung creates engaging, interactive ways for students to learn how to paint and express their creativity. He sparks their interests by using topics and materials that are interesting and relevant to their lives, which fosters meaningful discussions. Students leave his workshops with a greater appreciation for and understanding of painting.
