Most known for her power-packed spoken word poetry and dramatic presentations, Brittany Young has blazed the stage of major conferences and events with live poetry and dramatic presentations that are truly one-of-a-kind. She has written and performed custom content for government leaders, non-profit organizations, and schools around the Midwest. In 2014, she published a full-length poetry book titled, “Change District,” and in 2015 she released a poetry album by the same title. Her experience in teaching and leading workshops includes Louder Than a Bomb, Poetry Out Loud, the City of Omaha’s gang prevention programs, the Nebraska Writer’s Collective, and the Nebraska Arts Council.
Brittany creates engaging ways for students to interactively learn poetry and express their creativity through their own writing. In her workshops Brittany sparks students’ interest in poetry by using poems or other materials that are interesting and relevant to students’ lives, fostering meaningful discussions with students, creating fun educational activities that are age appropriate, and encouraging students to create & share their own poetry. Students are sure to leave with a greater appreciation and understanding of poetry.
