I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help facilitate the important, integral work WhyArts does in the community. I have long embraced this organization’s idea of how fundamental it is to engage in the realm of imaginative acts.
My formal arts education happened in the 1990’s at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. My sculpture work since that time has explored the concept of building, especially as it is applied to architecture and materials usage. I am materials-obsessed and, consequently, manipulation/process is of great importance to me.
Learning about materials and how they can be used and reused, reshaped and reformed around ones imagination is a natural entry point into the world of creative endeavors. Everyone has the right to be able to use their minds in this way. There is much work to be done in this regard. Let’s reimagine the world.
