Peggy Jones, a visual artist, is the newest member of the WhyArts teaching team. Jones is an associate professor of Black Studies and associate director of Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
“While I’ve won awards as a playwright, visual artist and photographer, I am truly proud to call myself a teaching artist,” Jones said. “For as long as I can remember, art has held a treasured place in my heart. Being able to share multiple forms of art by teaching and creating is a joy. WhyArts is an amazing bridge between art and all of us, irrespective of our abilities. As a teaching artist for this group, I’m grateful to have the opportunity to interact with many for whom art is a life-transforming event. Having taught and created art with groups of all ages, I’m so appreciative to be a part of this wonderful endeavor.”
