Fern Bailey discovered her gift in visual art at an early age. Fern has spent her life striving to learn and master as many visual art mediums as possible. Along with this, she is fascinated by the complexities of the human body and mind. In college she studied how the worlds of art and science can be used simultaneously to promote healing and overall wellbeing. Ultimately, helping people express, discover, and represent themselves through art is her passion.
Teaching Philosophy - Philosophy Statement: Fern strives to show others the beauty of curiosity and creativity. At the same time, she believes everyone matters, no matter who they are. She believes empathy, optimism, and kindness can make a difference in the lives of those around her.
Artistic Specialties - Mediums and Techniques: Visual arts (including but not limited to): Drawing: 3d, 2d, optical illusions, comics, realism, perspective, lettering, cartoon, mandala, charcoal, oil pastels Painting: Acrylic, watercolor, tempura Ceramics, clay, and building Sewing, weaving potholders, bracelet making Mixed media, collaging and sustainable/recycle art Color theory STEAM
Signature Style: In her art, Fern thinks outside the box. Every piece is different. She uses her imagination and problem solving skills to develop pieces that evoke emotion and curiosity from the viewers. If the piece allows, she adds humor and personality to bring the art to life.
Experience - Teaching Experience: Fern has worked with why arts for over a year. Prior to this, she was the ceramics intern at The University of Nebraska at Omaha and an intern under Therman Statom through Arts for ME!. Along with this, she works for Champion’s Run as a resident artist. There she teaches annual painting classes, runs the art station at holiday events (like pumpkin painting), and creates any sign or masterpiece the club needs. On the side she does face painting and teaches the children she nannies everything she can about art.
