Teaching Philosophy - Philosophy Statement:
Webb’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that strong observation skills and a solid
understanding of foundational art principles give students the confidence to express themselves
creatively. She emphasizes the fundamentals of visual art and design, guiding students through drawing from life, exploring the color wheel, practicing color mixing, and developing a sense of depth through perspective. She has created lesson plans that introduce all seven elements of art in accessible, engaging ways for learners of all ages—from adults to children as young as five. Beyond technical skills, she values exposing students to the broader world of art history and helping them understand how artists have expressed ideas across time. She incorporates hands-on lessons that introduce students to a wide range of artists and movements, from Renaissance masters to modern and contemporary innovators. By blending practical exercises with historical context, her goal is to help students build a strong visual vocabulary, develop curiosity, and connect their own creative choices to a larger artistic lineage.
